THANKSGIVING BLESSING BAGS

One of Live Like Jack’s biggest projects each Fall is collecting food and assembling “Thanksgiving Blessing Bags”.  The bags contain everything a family of 6 needs to sit down  and enjoy a holiday meal together.

In each bag recipients will find non-perishable items which include green beans, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cornbread, brownie mix, iced tea and a roasting pan, as well as a gift certificate to purchase a turkey from a local grocery store.

In 2017 Live Like Jack served 375 families in need. Our hope is to serve over 500 families this year! We are excited to once again help feed those in need in our community this year!

HEALING HEARTS SUPPORT GROUP

Live Like Jack’s Healing Hearts children support group welcomes children of all ages who have lost siblings, parents, grandparents or any loved one dear to them. We offer support and the opportunity to share, create, and remember their loved one. It will be held once a month for 10 months. We will have two sessions. Kids in kindergarten through 2^nd grade will meet the first Monday of the month from 6:00-7:30 PM and kids in 3^rd grade through 6^th grade will meet the second Monday of the month from 6:00-7:30 PM.

GRIEF COACHING

Live Like Jack’s Executive Director, Angie Hohmann, is a Certified NLP Coach and is able to provide Grief Coaching. Grief coaching provides support after a loss, using understanding and compassion to help guide you toward acceptance.

JACKSON HOHMANN “PLAY LIKE THERE’S NO TOMORROW” SOCCER SCHOLARSHIP

The Jackson Hohmann “Play Like There’s No Tomorrow” Endowed Fund was established to provide soccer scholarships for children to develop their soccer talents and “live” their passion for soccer.  The Endowed Fund will provide  a $1,000 scholarship to the Dubuque Soccer Club’s Developmental and Academy Programs that were so important to Jackson and his growth as a soccer player, teammate and person.

RESOURCES UNITE PARTNERSHIP

Live Like Jack has partnered with Resources Unite Volunteer and Resource Center to provide follow up calls for clients after intake.  We also support Resources Unite and Slumberland Furniture through the 40 Winks Foundation. The 40 Winks program was created in the hope that no child should sleep on the floor.  Slumberland Furniture generously donates beds to families in need to ensure children in our community get a healthy night’s sleep.  We are thrilled to support this program by providing all the bedding and pillows to be delivered with the beds.

BIRTHDAY BAGS

A group of generous donors donate these birthday bags which are then provided to kids when their family can’t afford a birthday celebration. The bags contain a cake mix, frosting, cake pan, and decorations. The bag also comes with an age appropriate gift/toy.

“BE A FRIEND WALK”

Our annual Jackson Hohmann “BE A FRIEND WALK” is held the third weekend in August at the Dubuque Soccer Complex. We walk in remembrance of Jackson who embodied all of the qualities valued in a true friend. This is our yearly fundraiser. All proceeds support the Live Like Jackson mission.
